John Paul Steffens

John Paul Steffens, age 85, of Scituate, passed away Monday, August 17, 2015, surrounded by his beloved family.  Born in Newton, he was the son of Albert and Anna Steffens.  He graduated from Sacred Heart High School and served in the Air Force.  He enjoyed a lengthy career at Jordan Marsh.  He enjoyed Boston sports, especially the Red Sox, and traveling. He is predeceased by his wife, Janet Gould-Steffens.  He is survived by his six children, William Steffens and his wife Mary of Newton, Dr. Thomas Steffens and his wife Libby of Concord, NC, Marilynne Flynn of Pembroke, Paul Steffens of Downey, CA, Jayne Karimi and her husband Fatali of Medfield, and Margaret Flannery and her husband Brian of Wrentham.  He is predeceased by his son Gregory Steffens.  He also survived by his 13 grand, and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his five step-children, David Gould and his wife Crystal of Marshfield, Robert Gould and his wife Elaine of Hanson, Judy Kuehn and her husband Rudy of Norwell, Bruce Gould and his wife Joan of Marshfield, and Jennifer Williams and her husband George of Norwell.  He is also survived by his 9 step-grandchildren.  John was also survived by his sister, Anne of Orleans and predeceased by his brother, Richard and sister Joan.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 10 am in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate Harbor. Visiting hours  Thursday, Aug. 20 from 4-7 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central St. (off Rt 123, near State Police Barracks), Norwell Center. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via www.jimmyfund.org/gift.
