John R. Tyson

John R. Tyson, (Jack) age 84, of Marshfield, formerly of Scituate, passed away peacefully at home on December 14, 2017. Beloved husband of Katherine (Platten) Tyson. Loving father of John R. Tyson, Jr of Hampton, NH, Diana Tyson Leavitt of Deerfield, NH and his step children, Barret Naylor of New Canaan, CT and Edgartown, MA, Katherine “Cammie” Campbell Naylor of Edgartown, MA, and Peter R. Naylor of Summit, NJ. Jack was the adoring “PeePaw” to his six grandchildren.

Jack, the only son of Howard C Tyson and Helen Tyson (Hall) grew up in Chatham NJ where he attended Chatham High School. He went on to earn a BA at Colgate University in Hamilton NY where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and played Varsity Soccer.   After Graduation he served honorably in the US Army as a PFC.  He worked 30  years at the Polaroid Corp. in Cambridge and Waltham as a supervisor and trainer. He was an avid soccer fan and player and an indomitable force as a cheerleader for his children and grandchildren.  A life-long boater, fisherman and hunter,   Jack was also an accomplished woodworker and restored several boats which he enjoyed taking out with friends and family.  He filled his retirement with woodworking, travel and family, One of his favorite things was his participation in the Chanticleers men’s group in Scituate where he found and made many new friends later in his life.

He was a member of the First Trinitarian Congregational Church in Scituate.

Funeral services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Mr. Tyson may be made to the First Trinitarian Congregational Church, 381 Country Way, Scituate, MA. 02066.
