Kenneth R. Branton

Kenneth Robert John Branton passed away peacefully with his family at his side at age 82 at on April 21, 2016 in Scituate, Massachusetts.  Ken was born on October 6, 1933 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to his parents, LeRoy Branton and Angelina (Triolo) Branton.

 

Ken graduated from Glen-Nor High School, Glenolden, PA in 1952.  His participation in baseball and football opened the door to attend college at West Chester University, West Chester, Pennsylvania. Ken graduated from the university with a Masters of Science Degree in Education in 1955. 

 

Following graduation, Ken taught geography and coached baseball at Interboro Junior High School, Interboro, PA .  Over his five years coaching the Interboro Bucs, he racked up an amazing 57-4 record. While teaching, Ken was introduced to his future wife, Concetta Ferzetti, by his student, Jerry, who suggested that Ken needed to meet his good looking sister. He married Concetta in 1958.   At age 26, under the  guidance from his oldest brother, Roy, Ken resigned his teaching post to join Roy to accept a position with John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company.

 

After his training with John Hancock, Ken returned to the Philadelphia area. He continued to sell insurance policies door to door.  Believing in the need for life insurance, Ken became one of the top John Hancock agents in the country.  He was quickly promoted and was responsible for opening new branches in the Philadelphia area.  As his career progressed, he relocated to Albany, NY before transferring to the John Hancock’s headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts in 1974. Ken continued his success with John Hancock to become a member of the senior executive team.  He retired at the age of 57.

 

Following retirement, Ken remained active playing both tennis and golf.  He was a member of the Scituate Harbor Yacht Club and the Hatherly Country Club in Scituate, MA.  He enjoyed traveling, dancing, spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

 

Ken will be remembered as a generous, caring, sincere, and charismatic man with a sense of humor who would do anything for family.  Ken remained close to his brothers, Roy and Richard.  He continued his mentorship and coaching to many during his journey through life.

 

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Concetta (Connie), his brother, Dr. Richard Branton, his children, Denise A. Fassnacht-McDonald, Deborah C. Bordonaro, Dr. Kenneth R. Branton Jr., Patricia L. Mann, and Kimberly J. DeMarino and grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, Dean, Lauren, Talia and Tessa. Ken is pre-deceased by his father, LeRoy Branton, his mother, Angelina (Troilo) Branton, sister, Sadie Branton, and brother, LeRoy Branton Jr.

 

The Branton family would like to thank Ken’s physicians, nurses, home health aides, physical therapists, and Beacon Hospice for the excellent care that he received.  A special thanks to Scituate Etrusco Associates.

 

 

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 10 am in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 14 Edward Foster Rd., Scituate Harbor, MA. Visiting hours Monday, May 2, 2016 from 4-8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset.
