Laura Anne Thomson, age 48, of Vine Grove, Kentucky, formerly of Norwell, died April 5, 2016. She was born Nov. 23, 1967 in Boston, MA. Laura was diagnosed with colon cancer in the fall of 2015 and was steadfast in her fight to overcome her illness. Laura was raised in Norwell, MA and graduated from Newman Preparatory School in Boston in 1984. After high school, Laura joined the United States Air Force and several years later returned to continue her education at Northeastern Univ. In the early part of her military career, Laura was a crew chief on B-52 bombers stationed in Guam. Later, she joined the Rhode Island Air National Guard as a Flight Engineer for C-130 Aircraft.
Laura Anne Thomson is survived by her loving partner, Michael Sleeper of Vine Grove, KY; father, Alan B. Thomson of Norwell; mother, Petrina Maggio Griffin and Charles R. Griffin of Hull; sister, Heather Babineau and Derek Babineau of Scituate; sister Allyson McCabe and David McCabe of Hingham; and sister Charlene Griffin of Holbrook. Laura is survived by 11 nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 11 am-1 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central St. (off Rt. 123, near state police barracks), Norwell Center, followed by a funeral service at 1pm in the funeral home.
