Mary A. (O'Boy) Hartwell

Mary A. Hartwell, age 89, of Cohasset, formerly of Taunton, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2017. Daughter of the late John O’Boy and Mary Veronica Martin O’Boy.  Beloved wife of the late Julian Sleeper Hartwell. Loving mother of Jeffrey Hartwell and his wife Megan of Cohasset, MA, Pamela Hartwell of Acton, MA, Judith McKnight of Surfside Beach, SC, and Julian Hartwell of Litchfield, NH.   Mary was the oldest of four siblings, John O’Boy, Eileen O’Boy, and Francis O’Boy, all deceased. She was blessed to spend the last decade living with her adoring grandchildren Jack and Brendan.  

Mrs. Hartwell was a former Chief Telephone Operator for New England Telephone where she met her husband Jack. She was a long time resident of Cohasset and volunteered for many town organizations including serving as President of the Social Service League and delivering meals on wheels.   She was an avid golfer and a long-time member of the Cohasset Golf Club.  Mrs. Hartwell was also a member of St. Anthony’s Parish in Cohasset.

Friends and family are invited to visiting hours Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017 from 4-7 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (across from St Anthony Church), Cohasset. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 20 2017 at 10 am in St. Anthony Church, Cohasset. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Mrs. Hartwell may be made to South Shore Hospice, 30 Reservoir Park Drive, Rockland, MA. 02370.
