Richard John (Dick) Walsh, died peacefully at home in Scituate MA, on Monday, October 2, 2017 at age 81.  Beloved husband of Beverly (Rettig) Walsh. He was devoted to his wife and family who survive him; including his children Susan (Kimball) Magoni, Steven (Monica) Walsh, Stacy (Michael Skok) Walsh as well as his grandchildren; Evan, Teresa, Nicholas and Annabel.

He was the son of the late Louise Bello Rood formerly of Malden, MA. Dick earned Bachelor in Engineering and Masters in Business from Northeastern University.  He served as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army during the Berlin Wall Crisis.

He had a rich professional life: starting at GE, and working at Polaroid on SX70 and the first film able to develop in ambient light. At TNCO Dick both developed medical instruments, streamlining production and vastly improving company culture.

He was a passionate entrepreneur and a gifted designer of all things. His progressive, visionary style drove him out of the corporate setting. With his independent spirit and desire to help others, Dick founded Magellan Agency in 1986.

Most recently, he used his talents, energetic drive and innovative spirit to design and build houses. Four of the homes he lovingly designed and built for both he and his wife sit proudly on Border St in Scituate. When he wasn’t designing and building, Dick enjoyed a lifetime of studying and playing the piano. He also learned to love the adventure of travel with his wife and Bailey, their beloved dog.

He was a source of inspiration for his family, and so many other lives he touched, and will be so greatly missed.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Richard during visiting hours on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 3-5 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. A reception to follow. A Private graveside ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Richard may be made to the First Trinitarian Congregational Church, 381 Country Way, Scituate, MA. 02066.
