Robert Michael “Bob” Gleason, age 88, of Scituate, MA. passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 29, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Bob is survived by his wife and best friend of 64 years, Brigid Kenny Gleason.

Bob was born March 1, 1929 and was raised in Brighton, MA. He graduated from Boston College in 1950 with a degree in Economics. He met his wife Brigid in Boston and began a very rewarding career with Kemper Insurance. Bob began his career in Boston and also worked in Syracuse, NY and Summit, NJ; eventually retiring at age 62 as President of Kemper’s Atlantic Gulf Division. He and Brigid raised their four children in Needham, MA and Manlius, NY before moving to Chatham, NJ in 1981. After retirement, Bob and Brigid enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their homes on Cape Cod and Scituate as well as winter months in Florida.  

Bob was a devoted family man whose love and affection for his wife, children, and grandchildren was paramount in his life. His outgoing personality and warm sense of humor always made him great company for others in his presence.

Bob was predeceased by his sisters Grace Kelley and Helen Silvani. In addition to his wife Brigid, he leaves behind daughter Brigid Keating and husband Bill of Colchester, CT; son Mike Gleason and wife Margie of Hull, MA; daughter Mary Harrigan and husband Tom of Scituate, MA; and son Bob Gleason and wife Deb of Duxbury, MA. Bob is also survived by 10 loving grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Bob’s life on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 4-8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset, MA. 02025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 10 am in St. Anthony Church, Cohasset. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Bob may be made to the St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
