Robert P. Magner, of Scituate, formerly of Medford, age 79, passed away after a long battle with cancer on July 12, 2016. Born August 30, 1936, Bob was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School, where he was inducted into the Malden Catholic Hockey Hall of Fame, and Providence College. He served as Vice President and Board Member of Cohasset Savings Bank. He was a longtime member of Hatherly Country Club, serving as President, Treasurer, and Chairman of the Board.
Bob was the beloved husband of Jeanne M. (Robinson), and loving father of Robert P. Magner, Jr. of Scituate and Christine M. Kimball and her husband Gary of Plymouth. Loving grandfather of Sean Kimball and his fiancé Mary O’Connor, Brian Kimball, and Brendan Kimball. Brother of Jean Linehan of Medford, John Magner of Gloucester, Terence Magner of Salem, NH., Edward Magner of Malden and Laurence Magner of Norfolk and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 10 am in St. Anthony Church, Cohasset. Visiting hours Sunday, July 17 from 4-8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Bob may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA. 02368.
