Paul Miles Obituary

Paul Robert Miles

Paul Robert Miles (79), passed away peacefully on March 17, 2024 after a long and valiant battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Paul lived every minute of every day to the fullest and passed away on his favorite holiday, St. Patrick’s Day. His family and friends can take comfort in knowing that this was a message from Paul that he is ok, and that he would want nothing more than for us to live our lives with the joy he lived his.

Born in Boston, Paul was raised in the Montclair neighborhood of Quincy and spent summers at Camp Massasoit where he earned his Eagle Scout. Paul graduated from Archbishop Williams High School in 1962 and Boston College in 1966. It was at Archies, as part of the “World Famous Class of 1962” that Paul met Nancy. They went to their senior prom together, married in 1968 and settled in Norwell where they raised their two daughters Susan and Paula, and lived for 47 years surrounded by their life-long Cross Street friends.

Paul worked at Analog Devices in Norwood for his entire career and it was Analog that provided Paul his first opportunity to visit Ireland. Ireland, and the friends Paul has there, were a very special part of his life.

Paul loved learning. He was quick to dive into new hobbies including his men’s cooking classes, wood carving, painting, and fishing.  He was an avid reader, and always had an “emergency book” tucked away in case he ran out of reading material. Paul was active in the community as a member of the Norwell Select Board, the Board of the NVNA, and the Maine Wilderness Watershed Trust. But his absolute favorite pastime was being on the water on his boat the Nautical Miles. A day on the water quahogging at Washburn Island with his three grandchildren was heaven to him.  The end of summer meant it was BC football season. Paul never missed a home game, loved tailgating on Shea Field and cheering on his beloved Eagles with a group of dear friends who became family.

Paul treasured his friendships. He remained close with the friends he made throughout his life from Quincy, Camp Massasoit, Archies, BC, Norwell, Analog Devices, Little Neck Bay, Siesta Key and Cobb’s Pierce Pond Fishing Camps.

But above all, Paul was a man of deep faith who loved his family and spending time with them at family dinners, telling jokes and stories around the table, cape weekends, and family vacations. Paul was full of fun and will be missed terribly by all who knew him.

Paul is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 55 years Nancy (McShane); his daughters Susan Kindregan (Kevin), Paula Clasby (Marc), his three treasured grandchildren Megan, Joseph and Jenna Clasby and his four-legged buddy Jonah; his brother Philip Miles (Cherie), and his sister-in-law June Miles. Paul was predeceased by his parents Walter and Margaret Miles; his brother Walter Miles and his sister Claire Swan (Parker).
