Arthur "Skip" G. Mitton, III

Arthur G. “Skip” Mitton,  Age 72, of Hingham, formerly Marshfield, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2018, at the Pat Roche Hospice House in Hingham, surrounded by his family. Skip was the beloved husband of Gail (Raphanella) Mitton, devoted father of Kimberly Menzel, and her husband Justinus of Scituate and Andy Mitton, and his wife Laura Mitton of Madison, CT. Loving “Bop Bop” of Maya, Lily, Calvin, and Asa.  Cherished brother of Joan Shute and her husband Walter of Bedford, NH. He was predeceased by his brother Peter Mitton.  Skip also leaves loving nieces, nephews and extended family members as well as many supportive and excellent friends.

Skip grew up in Chestnut Hill, MA and was the son of the late Arthur G Mitton Jr, the late Eleanor Van Kleek Mitton, and late stepmother Andrea Kerr Mitton.  He attended Tabor Academy in Marion MA and went on to study photography at the Rochester Institute of Technology.  He opened his own photo finishing business, Atlantic Color.  He settled in Marshfield and embarked on a second career as a financial advisor most recently at Moors and Cabot of Boston.  

Skip’s retirement gave him more time for fishing, golfing, traveling with beloved friends and family, and most especially spending time with his four grandchildren as their deeply loved Bop Bop.  He was the most loving, generous, and vibrant spirit and he touched countless lives with his lightness and his grace.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Skip during visiting hours on Saturday December 8, 2018 from 9-11 am followed by a Funeral Service at 11 am in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central Street (off Rt. 123, near State Police Barracks), Norwell Center, MA. 02061. Interment Private.  At the family’s request in lieu of flowers donations may be made to either St. Jude’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Hope Floats, 4 Elm St, Kingston MA 02364.
