Barbara V. (Johnson) Vogel

Barbara V. Vogel, 87, passed peacefully in her home in the early hours of Saturday morning, October 26th, in the care of her loving family. Barbara was born in West Quincy and was a proud resident of Norwell for 84 years all at her same home address. She was the daughter of Herbert Johnson and Alice (Gabriel)Johnson.

A 1950 graduate of Norwell High School, she attended Burdett and received her secretarial degree after a one-year program. Married in 1960 to the late Peter K. Vogel, she was a loving and devoted wife for 48 years. She is survived by her daughter, Susan E. Rose and her husband, John A. Rose III, her son Peter Scott Vogel and his wife Doris L. Vogel, and her three adoring grandchildren, Matthew J. Rose, Elizabeth A. Rose, and Sarah A. Vogel. Her kindness and compassion was a treasure to all including her “adopted” grandchildren, Zachary Belanger and the late James Belanger, Lauren Burgess, Matthew and Jonathan Mckeown, and Laura Quaranto (fiancé of Matthew J. Rose), as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and all of her many life long dearest friends.

Barbara’s greatest joy was giving herself to her family and friends. She was truly Our Great Lady!

Visiting hours to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 30th at McNamara Sparrell Funeral Home in Norwell from 11:00am – 12:30pm, followed by a service and burial at Washington Street Cemetery in Norwell.
