Welcome to the memorial page for

Catherine B. (Billingsley) Sullivan

March 21, 1936 ~ November 23, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Catherine Billingsley Sullivan, age 81, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on November 23 in Bennington, VT.  A former longtime resident of Scituate, she is survived by four children: Garrett Sullivan and partner Marie Hojnacki of State College, PA; Tracy Kirk and husband Bill of Hanover, MA; Amy Prince and husband Marcelo of Rockville Centre, NY; and Sheila Sullivan and partner Dave Green of Manchester, VT.  She was the loving grandmother of seven grandchildren: Sean, Meaghan and Dan Kirk; Noelle, Finley and Duncan Prince; and Tanner Alexopoulos.

Cathy was born and raised in Darien, CT.   While she enjoyed traveling and lived both overseas and in various locations on the East Coast, she was a Bay Stater at heart and a devoted fan of the Red Sox and Celtics.  When she wasn’t performing daily maternal miracles, she loved going to art museums (the MFA and ICA were particular favorites), watching movies (Alfred Hitchcock), and curling up on the couch with a good book.   She was a generous and welcoming hostess whose home was often filled with visitors.  When her children grew older, she worked in the office of Dr. John Josephs in Scituate and later at Country Curtains in Pembroke.  More than anything, she relished spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She will be buried in Union Cemetery in Scituate in a plot next to her beloved daughter, Moira.

Friends and family are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 from 6-8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 at 10 am in St. Mary of the Nativity, 1 Kent St., Scituate Harbor, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, 34 Washington Street, Suite 200, Wellesley Hills, MA  02481.
