Ernest O. Wessman, Jr, age 88, of Scituate, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2017. Beloved husband for 65 years of Marilyn (Tuttle) and devoted father of Lorraine and husband David Bresnahan of NH, Deborah and husband Craig Watt of VT, David Wessman and wife Coni of Scituate, Cynthia and husband Dan Courtney-Rourke of Weymouth, Michael Wessman and partner Jeannie of Plymouth, Marian and husband Edward Scarsilloni of Scituate, and Nancy and husband Robert Bartlett of Scituate. Grandfather of 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Brother of Dorothy LeClair of Bridgewater, Patrea Morriarty of FL, William Wessman of Braintree and the late JoAnn Mantia and John and Robert Wessman.
Mr. Wessman served in the US Army in the Korean Conflict. He worked for DS Kennedy as a Production Control Specialist and for ITEK Corp. for over 30 years where he built cameras for the space program. He was active in the community as a Boy Scout Leader, awarded the Silver Beaver, serving as President of the South Shore Elder Services and Past Commander of the Scituate VFW Post 3169, and was active at St. Francis X. Cabrini Church and St. Anthony Church as a Eucharistic Minister.
Family and Friends will gather to celebrate Ernest’s life on Thursday, May 25, 2017 during visiting hours from 4-8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 10 am in St. Anthony Church, Cohasset. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Ernest may be made to the Magical Moon Foundation “Milk Room Project”, PO BOX 83, Marshfield Hills, MA. 02151.
