James A. Kean

James A. Kean, age 77, of Hanover, formerly of Norwell for over 42 years, passed away on February 8, 2018 after short illness. Jim was the beloved husband of the late Leah F. (Dalton) Kean. He was the devoted and loving father of Capt. David J. Kean, Norwell FD, Leahanne Droukas of Brockton and the late James P. Kean. Adoring grandfather of Lindsey and Gabriel Kean; Jullia and Dianna Droukas; James J. “JJ” Kean. Brother of Hubert T. Kean of San Antonio, Texas, Marie Swan of Abington and the late Edith Demore, formerly of Norwell. Son of the late Hubert and Edith (Robbins) Kean. Mr. Kean is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Jim was a veteran of the US Army. He worked as insurance appraiser and prior to that owned his own automotive repair facility. Jim was an avid Patriots fan Mr. Kean enjoyed golf and casino trips with friends. His greatest joy came from his grandchildren and he rarely missed a sporting event or school function of theirs.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jim during visiting hours on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018 from 4-8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central Street (off Rt. 123, near State Police Barracks), Norwell Center, MA. 02061. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018 at 10 am in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart, 392 Hanover St., Hanover, MA. 02339. Interment Stetson Meadows Cemetery, Norwell. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Jim may be made in honor of his sister in law, Ruth Dalton, to Ruth Dalton to the New England Village, 664 School Street, Pembroke, MA. 02359.
