James J. “Jimmy” O’Keefe, age 61, of Hingham, passed away peacefully at home after a short illness on April 12, 2018. Survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Emily (Squires). He was the devoted father and grandfather to JJ and his wife April and their two boys, Christian and Kevin; Katie and her fiancé Jonathan and their daughter, Annabelle; Alex; Julia, and her husband Ross and their daughters Riley and Reese; and Nick. Brother of Joe and wife Lisa, Tom and wife Joni, Kevin and wife Kathy, Nancy and husband Jack, Mary and Husband Genefson, Maureen and husband Mohammed, John and wife Norma, and Paul and wife Joss. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Frances O’Keefe and his brother, Chris.
Jimmy was a proud veteran of the US Army, from which he was honorably discharged as an expert rifleman. For over 30 years, he worked in the bio-tech industry, as a chemist, field service engineer, and salesman. He held an Assoc. Degree from Quincy College and a BS from Eastern Nazarene. Jimmy enjoyed coaching baseball, football, and wrestling in Hingham, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
A Celebration of his life and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 11 am in Resurrection Church, 1057 Main St. (Rt. 228) Hingham, MA. 02043. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Jimmy may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley St., W. Bridgewater, MA. 02379.
