Jeanne Replogle Obituary

Jeanne Lonnquist Replogle left us on Sunday, December 9th at her home in Cohasset, Massachusetts. She was married for more than 60 years to David Replogle, who passed away earlier this year, and was the mother of five boys. Jeanne was born in Evanston, Illinois on April 8, 1932 to Dorothy Gittere and William Lonnquist. She started studying art when she was young at Katheryn Lords studio, and continued to at Pine Manor, Northwestern and Chicago Art Institute. She enjoyed painting portraits and landscapes in oil early in her career, and later gravitated to folk art in acrylic. A prolific artist, Jeannes work has been featured in many galleries, exhibitions and juried shows, including the International Show at Mystic Maritime Gallery. Her work was selected for Arts Around Boston, featured in Colonial Homes magazine, and appeared on WGBHs Two Collection. Jeanne was a member of the American Society of Marine Artists, the Cape Cod Art Association and the South Shore Art Center. Jeanne was also active in the Nassau Hospital Auxiliary and Mercy League while raising her family in Garden City, Long Island. She and David were members of Cherry Valley Country Club and The Casino where they played a good deal of tennis. After moving to Cohasset, Massachusetts in 1976, she joined the League of Women Voters and Cohasset Golf Club where she played both golf and tennis. Jeanne is survived by her sons Bill, Stew, Jamie and John, and her sisters Jill and Judith. She is predeceased by her husband David and son Bruce. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the South Shore Art Center. A celebration of her life will be held in the Spring of 2019.
