John Nowokunski Obituary

John “Johnny” Nowokunski of Scituate, passed away on April 23, 2018 at the age of 56.  Johnny died surrounded by his family at South Shore Hospital, Weymouth after a brief illness.

Johnny will be sadly missed by his mother, Helen Nowokunski of Scituate, his sister Sandra Nowokunski of Halifax and brother Brian Nowokunski and his wife Vicki of Rydal, GA, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.  Johnny was predeceased by his father Charlie Nowokunski and brothers Charlie Nowokunski and Tom Nowokunski.

Johnny grew up in Scituate, attended Cardinal Cushing School in Hanover and was a proud 1980 graduate of Scituate High School.  Throughout the years he resided in Quincy, Randolph and most recently, Webster Park Nursing Home in Rockland.

Another source of pride for Johnny was the jobs he held over the years South Shore Publishing (Scituate), a janitor position at the McCormack Building (Boston) and a dishwasher at Grove Manor Nursing Home (Braintree).  Johnny received many awards for his participation and success through WORK Inc. in Dorchester.

Johnny will be lovingly remembered for his love of music, Dunkin Donuts iced coffee, icy Diet Pepsi, shopping, holidays, going out to eat and spending time with his family.  Johnny was an avid “collector” of cd’s, cassettes and records.  He was a special friend to many that lived with him over the years in group homes for people with disabilities.  Johnny never forgot those who helped him; he was very friendly to all when out on shopping trips with his mother and sister and would always offer a kind hello and big smile to many strangers. Every time you smile at someone it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing – Mother Teresa
