Karan A. (Wester) Halloran, age 76, of Norwell. Devoted wife, mum, and “Nana”, passed away January 17 peacefully after a rapid advance of a long illness. Born and raised in Central New York, Karan was the oldest daughter of James Richard and Dorothy (Bentley) Wester. After high school, Karan moved to the Boston area to attend Endicott College, and was later employed as a buyer by the Jordan Marsh Company. She left her first career to focus on raising her two children, then enjoyed a successful second career as a real-estate agent, most recently with William Raveis of Norwell.
Karan is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Barry, her son, Timothy and daughter-in-law, Beth, of Belmont, Massachusetts, and her daughter, Meaghan, of Norwell, Massachusetts. She will be greatly missed by the three true joys of her life, her grandchildren Ryan and Molly Halloran and Graeme Crowley. She is also survived by her brother James Richard Wester Jr. and her sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Roger Krol, all of New York. She will be missed by many loving brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and wonderful friends with whom she enjoyed a great life.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Karan’s life on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 4-8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central St. (off Rt. 123, near State Police Barracks), Norwell Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 10am in St. Helen Parish, Washington Street (Rt 53), Norwell, MA. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Discalced Carmelite Monastery, where she and Barry were married in 1969, 15 Mount Carmel Road, Danvers, Massachusetts 01923.
