Leo S. Kurtz, age 91, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2018 surrounded by loving family. Husband of Dorothy A. (Pelletier) and the late Eileen (Jason), Leo was the beloved father of Peter and wife Debbie of Cohasset, William of Cohasset, Richard and wife Dyan of Bourne, Charlene Kurtz of Cohasset, Diane O’Brien and husband Kevin of Braintree, Eileen McDevitt and husband Walter of Braintree, Kerri Slattery of Braintree and the late Jacqueline Kurtz. Adored grandfather and great-grandfather of many. Brother of Aquinah, Carolyn, Donna, Jean, Joan, Dennis, Darryl, and eight siblings who predeceased him. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends, including Ed Mulvey and Steve Wigmore.
Leo was born in Flaxville, MT and served his country in WWII in both the US Marine Corps and US Army, before joining the US Coast Guard during Korea. Leo was a member of and Past-Commander of George H. Mealy Post #118 in Cohasset. He was extremely active in the town of Cohasset, where he was CCD teacher and little league coach to name a few. He was retired from the New England Telephone Company after 45 years. Leo will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 4-8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 10 am in St. Anthony Church. Interment Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. at 2:30 pm.
