Dear Ellen and Doug and Family,
My brother Tom informed me of Mary's death this past week but I was out of town. I want to send to you and your families my sympathy and prayers at this time. Mary, as you know, had a good life and a loving family - she was a good and generous woman. I have no doubt that she is in God's loving arms. I will remember her at Mass this week and pray for each of you and your families as well. Peace and prayers.

Mary Isley's contributions to improve care for breast cancer patients are profound. We had the privilege to work closely with Mary from 1977 until 2000 as she led the Data Management team for the International Breast Cancer Study Group. She was respected by all for her commitment to high-quality data for our clinical trials, and proudly displayed her viking helmet - a symbol of strength and dedication to her mission. Mary was a warm, caring and wonderful person who enriched our lives and those of many others. She will be greatly missed.
