Mary Lou (McCarthy) Smith

Mary Lou (McCarthy) Smith, age 74, of Norwell, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2019. Wife of Kevin J. Smith. Sister in law of Shawn Smith and wife Mary of Kensington, NH. Daughter of the late Robert J. and Marie (Toomey) McCarthy. Also survived by several cousins, her niece Maureen Keillor and husband Howard of Fayetteville, GA, and her nephews, Michael Smith of Belmont, MA., Peter Smith and wife Mary of Halifax, MA, Shawn Smith Jr and wife Carolyn of Rowley, MA, and Jeffrey Smith and wife Laura of Boxford, MA.

Mary Lou was a graduate of Emmanuel College and worked as a social worker for the Mass. Commission for the Blind, retiring as a Medical Assistance Supervisor. After retiring, Mary Lou enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends, and her beloved dogs, Maggie, Chloe, Molly, and Bridget.  

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mary Lou’s life during visiting hours on Sunday, March 3, 2019 from 2-5 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central St. (off Rt 123, near State Police Barracks), Norwell Center, MA. 02061. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 11 am. Interment Stetson Meadows Cemetery, Norwell.
