Ralph L. Roberts

Ralph L. Roberts, age 88, of Scituate, passed away on June 25, 2017. Loving father of Debra A. Lydon and husband Daniel of Scituate, Richard S. Roberts and wife Robyn of Pembroke, and Leslie R. Briody of Scituate. Grandfather of Daniel T., Brian M. and Jason A. Lydon, all of Scituate, and Joanna R. Roberts of West Roxbury, as well as six great grandchildren. Brother of Walter Scott Roberts of Scituate, the late Carole, Kenneth, David, Gail and Judy. Son of the late William and Katherine Roberts. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Roberts was a graduate of Scituate High School, Class of 1946. He began working at Hatherly Country Club as a caddy and worked his way to Superintendent until his retirement. He was also an honorary member of Hatherly. Ralph was also a Scituate School bus driver. He volunteered as a coach for the Scituate High Softball and Football teams, and was a awarded the “Faithful Fan” decoration for his avid support of the all Scituate High athletics.  He was well known as a Boston Sports fan as well, supporting the Red Sox, Patriots, and his favorite the Boston Bruins, to which he was a 40 year season ticket holder. Ralph Served on the Board for the Plymouth County Mosquito Control and the Board of Registrars. He was a member of the Satuit Masonic Lodge.

Ralph’s family is grateful for the care and support provided to him by the staff of the Life Care of the South Shore.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Ralph’s life on Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 4-8 pm in the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017  at 10:30 am at Groveland Cemetery, Scituate. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Ralph may be made to the Life Care of the South Shore Activities Fund, 309 Driftway, Scituate, MA. 02066.
