Richard Cole Barrett, age 61, better known as Richie, passed away peacefully at his home in Abington, MA

 

Richie was born in Rochester, NY on May 23, 1956.  He graduated from Tabor Academy in 1974.

 

After graduation, Richie decided to follow in his father’s footsteps, and became a top -notch restaurateur.  He learned the restaurant business from the ground up, learning every aspect.  He ended his career as the President of Barrett Restaurant Group. 

 

Richie worked and lived in Abington and was always there to lend a hand to help support any cause that would benefit the town whether it was for the school system, the sports programs or the snack bar on the football field.  Richie had a huge heart and was always there when needed.  He was a very giving and heartfelt person.

 

Richie was a huge sports enthusiast.  One of his biggest joys was to take his kids to playoff games, or a Super Bowl.

 

The beloved son of the late Francis and Emily Barrett, the proud father to Cole, Peter, Maxwell, Amanda Cousoumbos-Beal, Olivia, Claudia, Nolan, Theo, Clancey, Ian and the late Christian Barrett.  He was also the dearly loved brother to Michael Barrett, Mary Barrett Costello and Carey Barrett-Allan, as well as an uncle to ten nieces and nephews.

 

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Richie on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017 from 4-8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017 at 10 am in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St., Scituate Harbor, MA. 02066. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Richie may be made to the Francis M. Barrett Memorial Foundation, 1235 Bedofrd St., Abington, MA. 02351.

All those who knew him and loved him will sadly miss him.
