ROBERT R. MILLER, JR

Bob Miller, 85, of Hingham, passed away on April 5, 2018.  Bob was born in Pittsburgh to Robert and Ruth Miller on May 1, 1932.

He attended high school in Ben Avon, Pa before attending Colgate University and University of Pittsburgh, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business.  He was in ROTC and became a 1St Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.  He was married in 1952 to Marjorie Lloyd, of Mount Lebanon, PA.  Bob and Marge were stationed in Bremerhaven, Germany from 1954 until 1957.  Upon return to the US, Bob started his career at Pittsburgh Steel Corp (later known as Wheeling Pittsburgh) where he worked for 48 years, retiring as a Regional Sales Manager in Atlanta, GA.

Bob and Marge enjoyed nearly 60 wonderful years together before her passing in 2012. They lived in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, Wilton, CT, Dayton, OH and Atlanta, GA before moving to Hingham.  He leaves two daughters, Karen Miller of San Fransico and Julie Ferguson and her husband Glenn of Norwell, Ma.  He leaves 6 grandchildren, Clay, Graham, Alex, Anna Ferguson, and Ben and Leah Miller Handleman.  He is also survived by his two younger brothers, Jim Miller and Richard Miller.

Bob spent all of his childhood summers at the family cottage on Ahmic Lake in Magnetawan, Ontario.  This tradition continued his entire life.  The annual summer vacations have been a source of joy for the entire family.

All who knew Bob loved his warm smile, easy going nature and sense of humor.  A gentleman, truly beloved by all.

His daughters wish to extend their gratitude to the employees and care givers at Rose Court, Linden Ponds, for their kindness and support.

The family is planning a celebration of Bob’s life later this summer.
