Roger S. Whitley, Of Hingham, MA, formerly of Cohasset, died October 4, 2018 at Linden Ponds. He was born in Boston, March 8, 1926, the son of Bertram F. and Florence (Stern) Whitley. A graduate of Quincy High School and M.I.T. (1950), he was a World War II U.S. Army veteran in the 87th Infantry Division, 347th Regiment. He had a long career as an architect, first with Griswold, Boyden, Wylde and Ames, and later his own practice in Cohasset. He served in the Peace Corps in Fiji in 1984-1986. Twice a widower, to Martha (Lewis) Whitley and Katherine (Ohl) Whitley, he was also predeceased by his sister, Ruth Keating. He is survived by daughters Sarah (Stephen) Ferguson of Princeton, NJ and Alison Whitley of New Britain, CT, and grandchildren Andrew Ferguson of New York, NY and Martha Ferguson of San Francisco, CA. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 13 at 3:30 p.m. at the First Parish Church, 23 North Main St., Cohasset, MA 02025. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to First Parish Church (memo: for the meeting house), or to the Paul Pratt Memorial Library, 35 Ripley Rod, Cohasset, MA 02025.
