Rosmarie Engel-Conn, 92 of Cohasset, died September 20, 2018 peacefully in her sleep after a lovely birthday celebration with her family. She was born in Wittenberg, Germany, September 19, 1926. After living her youth through the horrors of WWII (her memoires of those time were published as a sequel in the Cohasset Mariner in 2010) she moved with her husband Hans-Ulrich Engel to Meerbusch, Germany where she became a dedicated teacher and principal of the local elementary school. Rosmarie was a gifted artist from early on in her life. She was a member of various art societies and her work was widely exhibited in Germany. In 1994 she immigrated to America to get married to the love of her life, her second husband Edward Conn. Together they travelled the world and all American states but 2. In 2004 Rosmarie and Ed settled in Cohasset to be closer to Rosmaries daughter Hortense McCarthy, her son in law Jack McCarthy and the grandchildren John, May, Morgan and Lily. Her love and dedication to her family was omnipresent. Rosmarie had a talent to turn everything she touched into a piece of art. The last couple of years she turned her love of nature and flowers into making beautiful pressed flower greeting cards and was a known figure selling them at the Marshfield and Plymouth Farmers markets. Her style of fashion was remarkable. A real fashionista and grande dame of a time long past. Her family will miss her dearly and invites friends and relatives to celebrate Rosmaries life with them on November 17 from noon to 4pm at the Lightkeepers cottage in Cohasset.
