William E. Stauss

William Ernest Stauss of Abington, Massachusetts passed away September 30th, 2018 surrounded by family. Born in Camden, NJ in 1942, the son of Jack B. and Grace Massa Stauss, he grew up on Boston’s south shore, graduating from Cohasset High School in 1960. After four years in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Lake Champlain, Bill attended Northeastern University and later worked as an electrical engineer for the MBTA in Boston. He was a proud member of the American Legion: George H Mealy Post 118, Cohasset, MA.

A brave soul with a mischievous sense of humor, Bill was a loyal friend whose bonds with old buddies spanned decades. His stories never failed to light up a party, and his generous spirit and sweet compassion were gifts to all who knew and loved him.

Predeceased by his parents and his son Michael, Bill is survived by his wife Marcia, daughter Karyn Stauss; his sister Jackie (Brian) Noonan, and brother Roger (Kathryn) Stauss; his beloved second family, Paul (fiance Susan) Walton, Lisa (James) Boyle and Diana (Marty) Block; grandchildren Bill, Arianna, Kayla (Dan), Nicole, Kyle, Allison, Meaghan, Patrick, Michael (Niki), Kaitlyn (Jeff), Leah and Maia; great-grandchildren Violet and Maci; and his loving nieces and nephews, Devon, Erin, Diane, Garrett, Jack and Bob.

Services will be held on Saturday, October 6th at the McNamara-Sparrel Funeral Home, Cohasset, MA. Visiting hours are from 1 to 2pm with a short service to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Legion: https://www.members.legion.org/tal/donatenow#legion-org-header
