Aaron Sawchuk

Aaron Davis Sawchuk, devoted husband, proud father, loyal friend, loving son, and lifelong entrepreneur, died unexpectedly on July 12th, 2026 at the age of 46. Aaron was a larger than life presence: energetic, curious, funny, and generous. He had an instinct for making things happen, and a remarkable gift for helping people feel that life was meant to be enjoyed and that there was always another good time just around the corner.

His greatest joy was his family. For twenty-five years, Kate was his closest companion, his best friend, and in the truest sense, his soulmate. He loved her completely and their life together was the foundation of everything that mattered most to him. He was equally devoted to their sons, Owen and Graham, and was a father who leaned in, taking great pride in nurturing their burgeoning interests and talents.

Aaron believed in traditions, honoring them and creating them. He filled his sons' lives with sporting events, weekend outings, and father/son excursions, taking them all over; from Bermuda to California, from England to Montana. He loved planning and executing memorable trips and experiences, not only for his family but also often for a cadre of friends.

Aaron drew people in with his warmth and humor and fostered deep connections everywhere he spent time. In Boston, he volunteered on the boards of Beacon Hill Nursery School and Hill House, organizations that have benefited his boys. In Weekapaug, RI, and Wainscott, LI, he was the consummate host, offering up his latest culinary creations while making everyone around him feel welcome and at ease.

Aaron's entrepreneurial instinct appeared early. At 15, he was hired to set up the Cohasset Music Circus computer system, and by 16 he founded Dream Communications, an internet service provider that brought email and the web to businesses across his home state of Massachusetts. He later persuaded his father, Wayne, to join him as his partner and chief operating officer, beginning a professional partnership that would span nearly 25 years.

While Aaron was still completing his undergraduate degree in Economics at Middlebury College in Vermont, he and Wayne built ColoSpace, a New England colocation, managed IT, and cloud services company serving clients from Fidelity and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston to the band Phish. Aaron guided ColoSpace as chief executive officer and later chairman until its acquisition by First Light Fiber in 2019. At the time of his death, he was a co-founder of Sustainable Data, a clean energy data center company. Throughout his life, Aaron exhibited an innovative spirit and curiosity about what could be built next and better.

Aaron is survived by his wife Kate; their sons, Owen and Graham; his mother, Annette; his brother, Ryan; his mother-in-law, Jennifer Noble; sister-in-law, Polly Auchincloss; his extended family, including his nieces and nephews, Lucy, Will, and Ben, as well as his dog Perry and a long list of dear friends. He was predeceased by his father, Wayne.

Quick witted, warm, genuine and thoughtful, Aaron lived with extraordinary energy and empathy and made the lives around him more joyful.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday September 26th, at the Second Congregational Church, 43 Highland Avenue, Cohasset, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Aaron's memory may be made to Hill House Boston, Nativity School of Worcester and the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons.
