The family of Aileen Esslinger is saddened to acknowledge her death at the age of 94. While grieving her loss, we are yet grateful for the many years we were able to share the fulfilling life she was fortunate to live.

Aileen Esslinger (Rohrs) of Hingham, MA., formerly a resident of Pompton Plains, Dumont, Cresskill, and Teaneck NJ died on September 16, 2014.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years Robert and her son Deane. Loving mother of Diane Esslinger of Cohasset, MA , Donald and his wife Eileen Esslinger, of Hewitt, NJ.  Devoted grandmother of Stephen and Christine Donatone, and Cameron Esslinger and GG to great grandchildren Cole Scott Esslinger and Olivia Rose Wintrode. She is also survived by her nieces Gayle, Susan, Cheryl, Robin and Kim as well as her nephew
Scott, and many dear friends.

She was a well-respected elementary school teacher in the Ridgewood, Wyckoff and Dumont systems, and a favorite of many of her students and of other teachers to whom she was a valued mentor.

She was a member of the Ruth Altar Guild of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Cresskill, NJ. a member of the Bergen County Mineralogy and Paleontology Club, and a former president of the Women's Club of Dumont.

Mom was at her best, though, as a trusted confidante for people from all walks of life who cherished her willingness to listen without judgment.  She was a true and kind and special lady who was very much loved and just as importantly, well-liked, by her family, her multitude of friends and the many lives she touched.

Her family would like to extend our most sincere thanks to those at Linden Ponds who provided her with tender care over the past months.

Her love for animals of all types was well known. If you so desire and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Scituate Animal Shelter 780 CJC Highway, Scituate MA 02066 or to another animal rescue organization of your choice.
At her request, services will be private and held at a later date.
