Al Petersen, of Brockton passed away on Saturday, Dec. 10, at Southwood Nursing Center of Norwell. He was 79 years old. He was a sheet metal member of local 17 and self- employed at Independent Engineering and New Frontier Htg. & A.C. Al was born in Cohasset and attended high school in East Weymouth. He spent his early adult years in Norton then moved to Brockton. Al lived a full life.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, tennis and racket ball matches, sailboat racing on his Swan and sailing in the Caribbean, flying his Cessna airplane, Beagle Trial judging, scuba diving for lobsters, jogging/racing as well as running daily at D.W. Field Park. He was also an active member of the Brockton YMCA. During his later years he enjoyed cruises with his daughter and spending time with his family.

He is survived by a son Richard Petersen of Wareham, a daughter Susan and son-in-law James Quinlan of Hanover, four grandchildren; Jason, Jonathan and wife Tarcia, Sheena, and Joshua and 3 great- granddaughters; Ava, Arianna, and Audrey, a brother James Petersen and wife Elaine of East Weymouth, a sister Deborah and husband Lee Johansson of Carver.

Family and friends are invited to attend his visiting hours on Monday, Dec. 12 from 4 | 8 p.m. at McNamara & Sparrell Funeral Home at 1 Summer Street, in Cohasset. His funeral will be on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at St. Anthonys Church in Cohasset at 10 am followed by a graveside service at Woodside Cemetary in Cohasset.
