Anthony N. Bahros, D. Ed., age 85, of Norwell, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 14, 2015 at home. Beloved husband of Elizabeth (Lee) Bahros and devoted father of Jessica L. Bahros and her husband Robert Blake of Norwell. He was the adoring grandfather of Anya Bahros and Dagim Bahros. Brother of Jane McGonigle and Peter Behrakis, and the late John Behrakis, William Behrakis, George Behrakis, and Teresa Pintabone. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Dr. Bahros was a graduate of Waltham High School and Univ. of New Hampshire. At both schools, Dr. Bahros was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame for football. He received his Doctorate of Education from Boston University, where he was a Kettering Fellow.  He coached undefeated teams in both football and basketball at Sanford High School in Sanford, ME.  At the Univ. of New Hampshire he was the freshman grid coach.   In 1963 he became high school principal in Somersworth, NH before his long tenure at Norwell High School from 1967 to 1992. After retiring from Norwell High School, he taught at Massasoit Community College.

After graduating from the Univ. of New Hampshire Anthony served in the Korean War and was promoted to Captain of U.S.A.R. in 1958.  Dr. Bahros was given many awards and accolades throughout his career. He was inducted into the Headmasters Association in 1988.  In 1990 he was awarded the Bertram H. Holland Outstanding Administrator of the Year presented by the Massachusetts Secondary School Administrators Association.  He also received the Burger King Honors Excellence in Education award the same year.

Anthony was a man of strong principals committed to the ideals of excellence.  He treated his students with fairness and respect.  In return their support and loyalty was a testimony to his leadership style.  Both students and teachers looked to him for guidance and sound common sense advice.  He encouraged individuality and creativity with teachers, fellow administrators, staff and students.  Anthony loved fishing, cooking, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.
