Arlene DeVries, age 79, of Cohasset and Edgartown, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Daniel DeVries. Devoted mother of Leslie Blake and husband William of Scituate, Kurt DeVries and wife Lee Anne of Cohasset, Heidi Arnold and husband Chris of Cohasset, Daphne DeVries of Oak Bluffs. Grandmother of Maggie and Jeffrey Blake, Charlie, Michael and Alex DeVries, Matt, Sam and Ellie Arnold. Sister of Robert Riedel.
Arlene DeVries was born and raised in Bergan County, NJ. She moved permanently to Massachusetts in 1997. She spent her summers on Martha's Vineyard. She enjoyed cooking, painting, traveling with her friends and spending time with her 8 grandchildren. She was a member of the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church Altar Guild.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10:30 am in St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Cohasset. Visiting hours Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 from 4-7 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Mrs. DeVries may be made to the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 16 Highland Ave., Cohasset, MA. 02025.
