Arthur L. Lehr Jr., age 92, of Cohasset, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years, Roberta Talbot Lehr. Arthur was the loving father of David Lehr, Allen Lehr and his wife Sandra, and Philip Lehr and his wife JoAnne, and grandfather to Robert, Rebecca, Samantha and Victoria Lehr, all of Cohasset. Involved in boy scouting for 80 years, Arthur's philosophy in life was service to others. He derived a great deal of satisfaction in volunteering, being involved on many boards in Cohasset and the wider community. He was selected as Cohasset Citizen of the Year in 2003.
After serving in the Navy in World War II for four and a half years, Arthur returned to Cohasset with his wife, Bobbie, he had met on leave in California. He settled in Cohasset, where they built their home. He was a Safety Engineer for Commercial Union, and also the co-founder of Lehr and Barnes Insurance Agency.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, May 4th, 2012, from 5- 8 P.M. at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St., Cohasset. A Memorial Celebration will be held this Saturday, May 5th, at 1 pm at the Second Congregational Church in Cohasset.
