Arthur T. Riccio, Sr., age 93, of Hull, formerly of Cohasset, Somerville and Cambridge, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family at his side on January 4, 2013. Beloved husband of the late Helena "Helen" (DeVasto) and loving father of George W. and wife Karen of Hull, Alphonse A. and wife Linda of Cohasset, Arthur T. Jr and wife Julie of Plymouth, and Linda M. Peraino and husband Michael of Hull. Arthur was the brother of Frank Riccio, George Riccio, Gilda McAveeney, all of Somerville and Dorothy Fortuna of Andover. He was the adoring grandfather of eight grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Arthur was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army. He bravely served as a lead scout for General Patton, earning a Purple Heart for injuries received because of enemy fire in Italy and Bronze Star for his actions. Mr. Riccio had a long career with the federal government working as an equipment specialist at the Charlestown Navy Shipyard.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 12 noon in St. Anthony Church, Cohasset. Visiting hours Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 10:30 am -12 noon in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset prior to the Funeral Mass. Interment Woodside Cemetery, Cohasset. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Mr. Riccio may be made to the Fisher House of Boston, PO BOX 230, South Walpole, MA. 02071 to assist veterans returning home.
