Barbara (Crowley) Elliott, age 87, of Cohasset, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2014. Wife of the late John F. Elliott. Loving mother of John F. Elliott Jr. and his wife Karen of Cohasset and Tamsin "Tammy" Elliott of Cohasset. Adored grandmother of Jack Elliott of Cohasset. She was the lone survivor of ten siblings. Barbara is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was heavily rooted and loved by the community in which she volunteered and lived. She was a founding member of the Cohasset Community Garden Club and one of the first to bring volunteers to South Shore Hospital from Cohasset. She was a hospice reader and volunteer. Since its inception, Barbara was a board member and chaired the Golf Tournament for the Talking Information Center, which provides reading services to the blind and print impaired, turning print into sound. Barbara was also a long time member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and Choir. She was a member of Hatherly Country Club and spent much time as a performer for the Cohasset Dramatic Club. Barbara was a born teacher, from First Holy Communion, to Contract Bridge (she was a master Bridge teacher), to life lessons.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 10 am in St. Anthony Church, 10 Summer St., Cohasset. Visiting hours at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset on Monday, June 9, 2014 from 4-7 pm. Interment Woodside Cemetery, Cohasset.
