Barbara F. Leavitt of Scituate died suddenly of heart failure at the age of 74 on December 27th, 2013.  She leaves behind her beloved husband of 52 years, Peter, and children Jacqueline Brady and her husband Stephen of Cohasset, Douglas Leavitt and his wife Monica of Bethlehem, PA, and Elizabeth Monaco and her husband Michael of Scituate.  She was the grandmother of eight cherished grandchildren, Robert McCaw (Sabine), Paul McCaw, Alyssa Falkowski (John), Kimberly, Robin and Michael Monaco, Jeremy and Phyllicia Leavitt, three step-grandchildren Daniel, Trevor and Sarah Brady one great grandchild Hamzah Ahmed McCaw and one step-great-grandchild Brady Livas.  She was the sister of Linda Cuff and her husband Bill of Cohasset.  She also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins behind.

Barbara grew up in Quincy and graduated near the top of her class from Braintree High School.  She was a graduate of Katharine Gibbs School in Boston and was a well-respected real estate broker on the South Shore for over 40 years.

Barbara was active in the Scituate Historical Society and a faithful and dedicated member of the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church.  Barbara was an avid reader, gardener and traveler.  Barbara and Peter traveled extensively, including 19 trips to Europe and several to the Bahamas and Latin America. Barbara was a great fan of the New England Patriots.  She was a kind, loving and selfless wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 4th at First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church at 330 First Parish Road in Scituate. Memorial contributions can be made to the Church or to the Scituate Historical Society.
