Barry Edward Sladen, Sr., age 68 of Scituate, MA passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy illness on June 5, 2012.  He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife Judy (Mahan) Sladen of 47 years.  Barry leaves behind his children, Lisa Sladen McMahon and her husband, Jim of Middleboro, MA, Barry E. Sladen, Jr. and his wife Holly of Pembroke, MA.,  Chrissy Sladen McCormack and her husband, Daniel of Cohasset, MA.  He was pre-deceased by his mother, Gwendolyn Tobey Wyman, and brother William Wyman of Maine.  He leaves behind his father, Donald Edward Sladen and step-mother, Carol Sladen of Scituate, MA. Devoted brother of Donna Sladen of Marshfield, MA, Donald Bruce Sladen of Hingham, MA, Linda Scribner of New Hampshire and Elizabeth Waddell of Marshfield, MA.  Barry adored his grandchildren and was the devoted grandfather of Jimmy and Samantha McMahon, Tyler, Kelsey, Lilly, and Alexis Sladen, and Aidan McCormack.

Barry was a craftsman carpenter who served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. John King from 1960 to 1964.  Barry loved fishing and hunting and was a great story teller.

There will be a graveside service on Monday, June 11, 2012 at 12:00 p.m., at the Cudworth Veterans Cemetary in Scituate, MA.  Arrangements have been made by McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home in Cohasset, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barry's memory to the Smile Train Foundation, www.smiletrain.org.
