Bette Holland, age 75, of Scituate, passed away peacefully with family at her side on October 26, 2012. Bette was born and raised in the West End of Scituate in 1937, the youngest of the six children of James W. Holland Jr and Rena L. Damon. She was named by her older siblings after the screen star Bette Davis. Bette was a graduate of Scituate High School, Class of 1955. For many years, she worked as a housekeeper for numerous families in the Cohasset area. She had a life-long love of country music and had a beautiful singing voice. She was a talented seamstress and embroideress. Bette was a direct descendant of John Damon, of the Men of Kent, founding fathers of Scituate and a descendant of John Howland of the Mayflower.
Bette was the loving mother of Donna M. Holland of Scituate, and the loving grandmother of Amy, John, Michael, Gianna, Angelina, Thomas and great-grandmother of Vanessa, Harry and Jayden. She was the beloved sister of Theodore J. Holland of Scituate, Constance Madeira of Shrewsbury and the late Lois Chouinard, Robert and William Holland.
Relatives and Friends invited to attend visiting hours to honor Bette on Saturday, December 22, 2012 from Noon to 2 pm. Inurnment at Mt. Hope Cemetery, West End, Scituate.
