IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Blanche M.
(Rachalski) Buckley
May 27, 1928 – January 24, 2025
Blanche "Bobbie" (Rachalski) Buckley, age 96 of Hull, formerly of Cohasset and Hyde Park passed peacefully on January 24, 2025.
Blanche grew up in Hyde Park and was very proud of her Polish heritage. She often talked of her hard working immigrant parents and all they accomplished. As a young woman she worked at Schraffts in Boston where she met her husband of 46 years, Jack. They moved to Cohasset in 1953 and started their family of 5. They spent summers at Gunrock Beach with Jack's parents, sisters and their families all living in one house. Fifteen children total - it was chaos, and she loved every minute of it.
Her life was her children. As they got older her days would be either at a ballfield, organizing the first recycling program in Cohasset, purchasing the first glass crusher that is still used today, being involved in the Ladies Sodality or having frequent dinner parties. Bobbie and Jack were regulars at every football and baseball game – high school and college, often bringing snacks for the players.
The beach was her favorite pastime – first Gunrock Beach, then Reeds Beach after the children were grown, (where she would lay on the rocks with her little eye covers for hours) then Nantasket Beach when she moved to Hull in 2010. If it was beach weather, she was there.
Her other love was sports – especially Tiger Woods and the Patriots, watching her "Tommy" with a passion. She would tell everyone, "don't call me when the game is on" and she meant it. She knew all the Red Sox players and followed the team to their first World Series win.
As the grandchildren came along, she cherished every moment with them. She went to as many of their sporting and recital events as possible, usually sitting there with candy in her purse to hand out to anyone nearby.
The great-grandchildren would spend their visits sitting on her lap while she read them books or sang her favorite song – we think the only song she knew – Someone's in the Kitchen with Dinah.
In 2022 she moved to Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham, where she rapidly adjusted. She loved her bingo games, when the singers came in she sat in the first row, and made many friends all while entertaining the staff with her many stories.
She was an incredible matriarch, not only to her own family but to her nieces and nephews as well. She had an incredible outlook on everything in life – never a complaint or harsh word about anyone. She took whatever life gave her in stride, always referencing her favorite quote – "It's all in the big book!"
Her many stories will be missed by so many. She has left a legacy of love, kindness, and a good life that will be remembered always.
She was the beloved wife of the late John "Jack" Buckley. Daughter of the late John and Anna Rachalski. Loving mother of Kevin J. Buckley and wife Susan of Burlington, John F. Buckley of Quincy, Liz Litchfield and husband John of Marshfield, Paul Buckley of Hull and the late Barry J. Buckley. Loving grandmother of John Litchfield and wife Kimberly of Marshfield, Jessica Downing and husband John of Framingham, Justin Litchfield and wife Kaitlyn of Marshfield, Steven Buckley and wife Kadi of Burlington, Michelle Smith and husband Eli of Burlington, Paige Buckley, Amanda Buckley, and Lauren Buckley all of Marshfield. Adoring great-grandmother of Jack, Camden, Isabella, Brody, Noah, Nathan, Grace, Liam, Grant, and Wyatt. Special Aunt to her ringbearer, Dick Stevens, her flower girl, Nancy Scully, and special great-aunt to Jessica Stevens. Blanche is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
