Brian Emmet Lynch
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Brian Emmet Lynch on April 30, 2026, at the age of 59.
Born in Schenectady, New York, and raised in East Glenville, he attended Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake schools.
Brian embraced life with great enthusiasm, optimism and humor. He lived a life filled with purpose, adventure, hard work, and deep connection. He carried with him a love for people, travel, and the profession that brought him so much pride and fulfillment. Brian approached both work and life with passion, determination, and an undeniable presence that left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Brian was a graduate of Boston College, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, and later received his Master of Business Administration degree, from Suffolk University. After completing his education, he lived in New York City for seven years before moving to the South Shore of Boston. He lived briefly in Hingham, followed by Scituate and ultimately settling down in Cohasset to raise his family. His most recent years were spent in the community of Hull, near the ocean, a place where he found peace, reflection, and joy.
Brian enjoyed a successful career spanning more than thirty years, holding numerous executive and leadership roles heading up software sales divisions in the private sector. Yet, above all his professional accomplishments, Brian’s greatest source of pride and fulfillment was the life he built with those he loved, as a devoted father, loving son, caring brother, beloved uncle, steadfast partner, and loyal friend.
To Brian, friendship was never casual, it was one of life’s greatest treasures. He built lifelong bonds wherever life took him, whether it be overseas, around the USA, or his favorite local restaurants and pubs. His loyalty, humor, generosity, and ability to make others feel valued earned him friendships that spanned decades and distances. Even when ALS entered his life, sharing stories, laughter, advice, or simply his time, Brian gave wholeheartedly to the people he loved without pause.
Brian was also a passionate sports fan whose enthusiasm for teamwork and community extended far beyond the sidelines. Before transferring to Boston College, Brian attended Curry College where he founded the Rugby Team and was the first team captain. He coached Tee-ball and Little League baseball when his children were young, creating lasting memories for countless children and families. He generously volunteered his time within the community, including his involvement announcing at youth football games and later with the Cohasset Triathlon, always eager to support causes and events that brought people together.
Though Brian achieved great professional success, he would often say that his proudest and most meaningful accomplishment was raising his three children. They were the center of his world and the source of his greatest joy. Brian spoke of them with immense pride and unconditional love, and the values he instilled in them will continue to carry forward his spirit and example.
Leaving behind a legacy of strength, laughter, joy, and love, Brian will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his three children, Liam, Lizzy, and Ryan Lynch; his former wife, Siobhan; his brother, Mark Lynch (Yana); his three nephews, Tim, Kevin and Sean (Kendall); his former sister-in-law Becky, as well as his grandnephew, Bodie Lynch. Brian is also survived by his beloved life partner, Katie Steenstra, and her children, Carly, Matthew, and Emma. Brian was predeceased by his parents, The Honorable Robert E. Lynch and Judith (McEndy) Lynch.
Brian’s love of life, family, and friends was palpable to everyone around him. He embraced life fully, treasured the people closest to him, and found joy in moments both big and small. One of his favorite sayings, “We had the best time”, will remain with those who loved him as a lasting reflection of the gratitude, humor, and wholehearted spirit with which he lived his life.
A wake will be held on Friday, May 22nd, 2026 at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home from 4pm-7pm. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026 at 10am at Saint Anthony’s Church in Cohasset. Immediately following will be a Celebration of Life at the Parrot in Hull, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Brian’s memory to Compassionate Care ALS (CCALS) P.O. Box 1052 West Falmouth, MA 02574 or ccals.org
Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, Brian’s legacy will endure in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love that remains.
