Candace Anderson Mitchell, of Humarock, MA passed away peacefully May 2, 2026 after a brief illness
She was born and raised in Scituate, Mass. She spent most of her life always within a stones throw of the Ocean, except for the years she spent in the White Mountains of NH. She traveled several times cross-country with her husband John in their 1976 GMC Motorhome. She was always connected to nature and the outdoors.
Her biggest joy in life was her two Grandsons. From the time they were babies to adults she was involved in their sporting activities, high school and college graduations and more. You couldn’t have a conversation with her and not hear a story about Brendan and Jason. She was affectionately known to them and all their friends as Grandace. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, making homemade pies, her famous Christmas Egg Nog, watching Humarock sunsets and playing cribbage with her Marshfield Yacht Club Crew.
Candace was business entrepreneur. Over the years she started and operated many businesses, from Craft and Flowers in Marshfield, Austin Associates thruout New England, The Wheelock Motor Inn and Abel’s Candy Store in NH. For the last 5 years she could be found working at her family’s Marine Supply Store in Scituate Harbor. Hard work and Candace were synonymous.
