Captain Steven A. Jackman (Norwell Fire Dept., Retired), age 56 of Abington, formerly of Norwell, passed away on December 18, 2013 peacefully surrounded by people who dearly loved him. Beloved husband of Leslie (Carlisle) Jackman and adoring father of Ariel Jackman. Devoted son of Carol (Clapp) Jackman of Norwell and the late George E. Jackman. Brother of Peter and wife Barbara of Pembroke, and Robert and wife Maria of Randolph. Son in law of Gertrude of Weymouth and the late Richard V. Carlisle. Brother in law of Richard Carlisle, Linda McLaughlin, Brian Carlisle, Joel Carlisle and Laura Martini. Loving uncle of Nicholas, Christopher, Emma, and Aaron Jackman as well as the Carlisle nieces and nephews. Also survived by his Brothers and Sisters of the Norwell Fire Dept., and his beloved dog, Marla May.
Steve joined the Norwell Fire Department in 1980, working previously on the Norwell Volunteer Fire since 1976. He retired from the Fire Department in July of 2013, but remained a major part of the firehouse. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and a devoted fan of the Boston Bruins as well as other Boston sports teams. Steve loved traveling with his family, skiing, golfing, hanging by the pool and manning the barbecue feeding the masses with cheeseburgers and hot dogs, especially at his 4th of July cookouts.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 10 am in St. Helen Church, 383 Washington Street (Rt 53), Norwell, MA. 02061. Visiting Hours Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 from 4-8 pm in St. Helen Church, 383 Washington Street, Norwell, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Capt.
