Obituary

Carl Anthony Micciantuono Jr, of Abington, formerly of Norwell, passed away at home on August 15th surrounded by his loving family after a courageous 2 1/2 week battle with cancer. He leaves behind his devoted parents, Carl and Anne Micciantuono of Norwell, his older sister Maria Matterazzo, of Abington and younger sister Susan Butzbach and husband Christopher of Hanover, his beloved son Max Micciantuono, of Abington and beloved daughter Olivia Micciantuono of Norwell, and his soulmate of 7 years Angela Zapustas of Marshfield and her two children, Riley and Olivia. Carl also leaves behind his dear uncle, Joseph Ahern of Dorchester. Carl was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Mary and Alfred Ahern of St. Augustine Florida, and Alice and Frank Micciantuono of Norwell.  He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, including Nicolas and Gina Matterazzo, and Emma, Ryan, and Kelsey Butzbach who all loved him dearly. Christmas Eve will never be the same as Uncle Carl would always bring his Santa sack filled with extravagant gifts and fun surprises and games that they each looked forward to every year, even as they got older. Carl also leaves behind many friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, and work acquaintances. He was an unforgettable human and touched the lives of so many.  Carl was wildly talented and successful in everything he did, from owning his own plumbing business to acquiring real estate properties, and he had a special gift of recognizing and giving back to those less fortunate. When referring to the homeless, Carl would let you know that they were no different than you and me and that they just have different circumstances. He was a kind soul and truly just wanted to help others.  He was fearless and never followed standard everyday rules. Carl loved with his whole heart and lived everyday like it was his last day. He was an amazing and loyal friend to everyone he met. Family and close relationships were so important to him and he would drop everything in a second to help those he loved. He was a wonderful son, brother, dad, and partner in crime. Carl enjoyed being near the water, eating good food, and music was one of his most cherished hobbies. He wouldn't think twice about booking a vacation at the spur of the moment. Being a prankster was his specialty, and he loved making people laugh or getting a rise out of them. He especially loved getting people riled up with his strong political views and then claimed he only wanted to teach you something. His sense of humor was one of a kind, and no one could tell a story quite like him. He was a true fighter, and fought as hard as he possibly could right until the end. His passing will leave a huge void to all those who knew and adored him. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday August 21st, between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm, at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central Street, Norwell, MA 02061. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday August 22nd, 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church, 392 Hanover Street, Hanover, MA 02339. Interment immediately following at Washington Street Cemetery Norwell, MA.  In lieu of flowers we know Carl would appreciate any donations be made to any Homeless Shelter in Massachusetts or any United States Veterans Charity.
