Carmela F. (Marella) Silipo, age 93, of Scituate, passed peacefully on February 21, 2011. Beloved wife of the late the George Silipo and the loving mother of John Silipo of Marshfield, Dorothy Haley of Malden, Emma Grogan of Charlestown and the late George, Jr. Dear sister-in-law of Olga Marella of Rockland. Sister of the late John Marella, Pat Marella, and Mary Ramsey. Also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Carmela was a resident of Scituate since 1945. She was raised and educated in Quincy and worked for General Dynamics as a secretary for may years. She was a site manager for Scituate Senior Center, managing Elderly Lunches and Meals on Wheels. She also organized elderly trips and activities at Wheeler Park residence. Carmela was a member of the VFW Post, Scituate and the Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed her membership to the Scituate Barber Shop Quartet.

Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset.

Service Information

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Feb. 25, 2011 at 11 am in St. Anthony Church, Cohasset.

Interment Union Cemetery, Scituate.
