Cecelia (Bongarzone) Barbuto, a native of Hull, Massachusetts, died peacefully, December 22, 2014. She was born on April 27, 1931 and lived in Hull her entire life. Cecelia was proud to be a native of Hull and no matter where she traveled, she could not think of another place she would rather live.
Cecelia was an assistant Treasurer of the former Hull Co-Op Bank and worked there for 25 years. She later worked in the Tax Collectors Office for the Town of Hull for 11 years.
Cecelia was the devoted wife of the late James P. Barbuto Sr., a masonry contractor and worker at the Tree and Moth Department for the Town of Hull.
Cecelia was socially and civically active. In her younger years she devoted her time to Boy and Girl Scouts. She was also in charge of CCD classes in her parish, St. Ann's Church. She volunteered many places including Meals On Wheels and at the South Shore Hospital for more than 15 years. She was a member of the Hull Garden Club and the Red Hatters.
Cecelia is survived by her beloved son, James P. Barbuto Jr., of Hull, Massachusetts, three grandchildren, who were the joys of her life: James P. Barbuto III., of Oakland, California; Elizabeth Barbuto, and her husband, Jay Farraher, of Charlestown, Massachusetts; and Anastasia Barbuto of Hull, Massachusetts. Cecelia treasured and will miss her many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her grand-dog, Penny.
A wake will be held from 3-7 pm on Monday, December 29th at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church). A Funeral Mass will held on Tuesday, December 30th at 9 am at St. Ann's Church at St. Mary Parish, Samoset Ave. in Hull, Massachusetts.
