IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charlene A.
(Waugh) Jackson
December 26, 1926 – May 3, 2024
Charlene A. (Waugh) Jackson, a resident of Cohasset since 1961, passed away on May 3, 2024, following a short period of declining health. She was 97 years old. She was born in Whitman, Massachusetts to Carle W. Waugh and Velma Ardelle (Alden) Waugh on December 26, 1926, graduated from Whitman High School and Colby Junior College (now Colby-Sawyer College) in New London, NH.
Charlene was an active member of the Cohasset community, working at The Linen Chest and later at Flemings and as a dedicated volunteer at The Consignment Shop and the Paul Pratt Memorial Library. She also served as the Treasurer of the Second Congregational Church in Cohasset for over two decades. In her spare time, Charlene was known as a ruthlessly competitive Bridge player, playing in Duplicate Bridge tournaments and clubs throughout the South Shore; a voracious reader; and a dedicated movie-goer. Throughout the summer months, she enjoyed as many moments as possible on Sandy Beach where she would gather with friends from the Linden Drive/Rustic Drive neighborhood, enjoy a game of Bridge and perhaps a cocktail or two as the summer day turned to evening.
Charlene was the wife of Robert V. Jackson, who predeceased her in 1988. Charlene is survived by her two sons: Robert W. Jackson and his wife Diane, of Cohasset; and Bradford L. Jackson and his wife Patricia of Wilmington, MA. She also leaves seven beloved grandchildren: Kristin Curran and her husband Brian, of Cohasset; Keith Jackson and his wife Tara of Chesapeake, Virginia; Kaitlin Johnson and her husband Jeff of Plympton, MA; Jessica Geilfuss and her spouse Jacqueline of Tyngsboro, MA; Katianne DiSanto and her husband Michael of North Andover, MA; Sarah Jackson of Washington, DC; and Bradford Jackson II and his wife Valerie of Wilmington, MA. Charlene is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Emily Curran, John (Jack) Curran, Chloe Johnson, Nathaniel Johnson, Connor Jackson and Anthony DiSanto. She also leaves her stepdaughter Christine Barnes and her children Matthew and Stephanie. In addition to her parents and husband, Charlene was also predeceased by her stepsister, Meredith Beaulieu.
At Charlene's request, a private memorial service and interment will be held.
