Charles Ray Climer Obituary

Charles Ray Climer, 90, of Norwell, Massachusetts, passed away on March 21, 2025. He was born on January 30, 1935, in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Charles's life story began with humble beginnings in Shawnee, where he and his brothers worked on farms for food. Seeking a better life, he, his mother, and brothers walked from Oklahoma to California. Charles possessed a natural talent for connecting with people, combined with a determined spirit. This made him an exceptional salesman from a young age.

Charles and Claudia shared 60 years of loving marriage, remaining devoted to each other until the end. His successful career in the equipment leasing business led them across the country, eventually bringing them to Norwell, Massachusetts, in 1971, shortly after the birth of their son, Quentin. Charles later established his own leasing company, which he ran until his retirement at age 67.

Charles was a devoted father to Quentin, as well as Chuck, Cathy, Corey, and Chris from a previous marriage. He was a cherished grandfather to 12 grandchildren and a proud great-grandfather to 20 great-grandchildren.

Charles was known for his kindness and willingness to help anyone. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to laugh and tell stories, and could spontaneously break into dance or play his guitar and sing. He enthusiastically coached Quentin's soccer and basketball teams from first through sixth grade. Later, when Quentin had his own children, Quentin and Sophia Climer, Charles became a beloved figure in their daily lives, meeting them at the school bus every day. Quentin and Sophia lovingly called him 'Umpy,' a child's endearing attempt at 'Grampy.' He was the most loving grandfather and a constant, joyful presence in their lives. His smile and kindness were ever-present... And his trusted advice, offering guidance rooted in his own rich life experiences and common sense will be deeply missed.

After his retirement, Charles became deeply involved in his and Quentin's shared passion for shotgun sports. He served as treasurer of the Old Colony Sportsman Association for 10 years, playing a crucial role in restoring its financial stability and ensuring its future success.

In accordance with Charles's wishes, there will be no formal services. As he often said, "I'd rather be seen than viewed." The family will hold a private gathering to celebrate his life.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
