Charles F. Keyes, age 73, of Scituate, passed away on September 2, 2012 with loving family at his side. Mr. Keyes was the loving husband of Kathleen (Brehm) and the father of Lauren and her fiancé, Brian Steverman of So. Boston, Charles Keyes Jr. of Scituate, Suzanne Cochran and her husband, Joe of Scituate, and Shawn Keyes of Marshfield. He was the adored grandfather of five grandchildren and the brother of Karen Gervasi and her husband Tony of Inverness, FL. and the late Jane Keyes Mullin. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and Margaret Keyes.

Charles was a life long resident of Scituate, where he was born, raised and graduated high school. He played varsity football and became a Merchant Marine. He was a veteran of the US Army, Special Forces, Green Beret. He worked as a commercial fisherman and as an Electrician for the JF White in the IBEW Local 103, and just received his 40 year service pin in June. Mr. Keyes was a talented carpenter and enjoyed wood carving, making signs, and other pieces of furniture, like toy boxes, tables, and chairs.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at 11 am in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St., Scituate Harbor. Visiting hours Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 from 5-8 pm in the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. Interment Cudworth Cemetery, Scituate.
