Charles "Ted" Patrolia, age 85, a lifelong resident of Cohasset, passed away peacefully on Sept 13, 2014, surrounded by family. Beloved husband for 59 years of the late Mary Ellen Patrolia and the loving father of Nora Kohler of Cape Coral, FL., Rebecca Tabaczynski of Lexington, Mark Patrolia of Hingham, Martin Patrolia of Dedham, Mariclare Cheney of Marshfield, Kevin Patrolia of Norwell, Timothy Patrolia of Halifax, Daniel Patrolia of Stoughton and the late Patti Desmond. He was the loving grandfather of ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Ted was the loving brother of Jack Patrolia, Michael Patrolia and Anne Harris as well as to the late Nelson Patrolia, Mary Greenhalgh, and Helen Madge. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Ted was the successful developer and builder of Fair Oaks Lane in Cohasset.  His plumbing background, by way of his father, aided in his building accomplishments and he became the Plumbing Inspector of the Town of Cohasset.  He began his college education at age 45 and completed his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Arts and a Masters in Occupational Education at Fitchburg State College.  He started his teaching career at Hingham High School in 1980 and retired from Minuteman Technical Vocational High School in 1991.  He was a very accomplished builder and flyer of model airplanes and is recognized for his "Cobra" model that was published in Air Trails in 1948.  With a google of Ted Patrolia, or a visit to the National Model Airplane Museum in Muncie Indiana, this unique model he designed at age 18 can be viewed.  Ted enjoyed traveling and took his large family to Alaska and most of the National Parks in the United States.  He also toured Europe and Hawaii with his wife. Ted served in the US Air Force from 1947 -1955.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 17 at 10:00 AM in St. Anthony Church, Cohasset. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4 - 7 p.m. at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. Interment Woodside Cemetery, Cohasset. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Ted may be made to the Special Olympics Scituate Chapter, c/o Taffy Nothnagle, 36 Atlantic Ave, Cohasset, MA 02025.
