Clayton J. Dillon
Dillon, Clayton J. of Norwell, formerly of Portsmouth RI and Framingham, MA passed away on January 10, 2024 after living an extraordinary 90 years. He leaves behind the love of his life Catherine Dillon (Sweeney). He is the loving father of Colleen D. Cimini and husband Louis of Scituate, Brenda Bergin and her husband Peter of Bonita Springs FL and Clayton R. Dillon and his wife Ginger of HoHoKus NJ and Newport RI. He leaves behind grandchildren Cara Cimini (Kyle Trombly), Matthew Cimini (Lauren Tuccio) and Amelia Cimini (Andrew Farinick), Eileen Dillon and great grandchildren Louis Trombly, Vivien Trombly, Walter Farinick and Vincent Farinick.
Clayton was born in Staten Island NY to Eileen and Robert Dillon of Cobh Ireland on November 19, 1933. When he married Catherine he and his parents became a part of the large and loving Sweeney family. Clayton graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from Manhattan College, a master's degree from Northeastern University and an EE degree from MIT. He had a long career as a Director of Engineering for GTE which is now General Dynamics. He traveled the globe implementing communication systems for the military. He was also an adjunct professor at Northeastern University and he was proud to have served in the U.S. Army.
Visiting hours will be held at McNamara Sparrell Funeral Home in Cohasset on Monday, January 15 from 3-7 pm and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 16 at 10 am at Saint Mary of the Nativity in Scituate Harbor. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Arnold Hall Conference Center https://www.arnoldhall.com/donate/.
